Plum Creek Market Floral offers several ready-made products A team of three floral designers utilize their talents, creativity and experience to meet the floral and gift needs of area customers at Plum Creek Market Floral, a department of Plum Creek Market Place. Floral manager Jacque Cantrall, who has been at her job for nearly five years, said she likes working with people and being creative. “I like to be able to work with my hands,” said Cantrall. Her training dates back 25 years when she worked at a flower shop in Emporia, Kan. “It’s fun to work with flowers,” said part-time worker Rhonda Hammond. “I like the designing part of it. I enjoy doing prom flowers, wedding flowers. There is a nice variety of things to do.” She has worked in the floral department of Plum Creek Market Place for two years, but has over 30 years of experience in floral design. After she made silk flowers for her own wedding, her mother-in-law gave her name to a florist, which led to her being hired at a flower shop and the start of accumulating experience. Another part-time employee Connie Huyser once owned a floral and gift shop in Idaho. “I like dabbling in flowers,” she said. “I just love creating. I’ve been a craft person most of my life. I love working with people. I love the situation where you can visit with people and bring a smile to their face.” Plum Creek Market Floral located at Plum Creek Market Place offers ready-made flower arrangements, candy bouquets and gift baskets for a variety of occasions. Ready-to-go items also include a selection of plants, plush and other gift items, which can be purchased during the regular store hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. “Someone can call and say what they want in it and we will make it up,” said Cantrall of personalized items. Huyser noted that a “basket” doesn’t have to be used for the base of a gift basket. She said Cantrall is known for her creativity in building containers, such as using a person’s favorite pop, or another beverage such as Gatorade or beer. After the container is made it can be filled with favorite foods or other gift items. Orders can be placed during Plum Creek Market Floral’s business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Additionally they offer balloons — with choices of mylar, oversized mylar and latex. Delivery of flowers, gifts or balloons is available Monday through Saturday with 24 hours advance notice. The fee is $3 for deliveries in Lexington. For out-of-town deliveries to Cozad, Elwood or Overton the fee is $15.
